Vander Griend family at work

Here are some more photos, a photo of Sandy actually doing something - I was doing plenty, but I am usually taking photos. Here we are putting the metal siding on the lower level. Later that day we put the siding on the upper level.

Here are finished photos of the building with all of the siding and windows in except for on the ends. They need to wait for us to build the porches on each end in order to put the siding around the wood.

We had a lot of fun with the setting up and moving of scaffolding. Julie and Mike were the monkeys, Howard provided the strength and I took photos of it all.
Here is another shot of Sandy helping install something - or is that uninstall?? This is the view of the barn facing southwest - a large covered porch will be going over the lower central opening. That opening will have wooden doors that swing out and will be painted red with white 'x's on them to make the barn like look.
This is the entry to the house from the animal stall area. You will enter and then a "guys" bathroom will be on your left and the stairs going up will be on your right.

A view of the homestead from the creek, or northeastern side of our property. This side of the barn will have a small deck off of the master bedroom.

Julie and Sandy's trip to Tennessee

Julie and Sandy headed to Tennessee the week of July 4th - this is the first view of the barn that Sandy and Julie saw when they arrived.
What follows are some of the many photos we took.
Julie took out her computer the last day we were there - it was actually very hot the last 2 days and so we took some time off in the afternoons and rested and read books.
Here are some of the other things that Julie did - texting Bobby, sleeping, and learning how to shoot the rifle!

The day we bought windows we set up the scaffolding and it was an adventure!
Here are some shots of the scaffolding being set up - I will be posting a hilarious video of the
movie I took of the moving of the scaffolding - watch for updates on Wednesday!

Hi Mom! Stop taking photos of us!
One morning Howard took Julie and I down to our creek via the tractor - we are all bundled up because it was a little chilly plus we didn't want to acquire any tics.

Each morning Howard would take out the tractor and pull a bunch of tree stumps and sticks from the huge piles all over the place and drag them over to our fire area - we would burn all day and have a great bonfire and roast marshmallows each night.

Julie and Howard and Mike building shelves in the garage areas so we could take all of the tools and building supplies out of the chicken shed/bathroom.
Julie eating our oatmeal breakfast the first morning we were there!

This is the fire that Julie built! This is a progressive shot of her hard at work! She gathered her sticks, piled them up neatly, added some paper and lit the fire. It turned out great, Howard and her then added some giant logs once it was going well!
