What Do You Do With an Easter Egg Hunt?

It is a struggle for a Christian - what do Egg Hunts, Easter Baskets, Bunnies and chickens have to to with the Resurrection from the Dead of Jesus Christ?

Well...not a whole lot if you read the story in the Bible. But today, Howard and I and some of the Amazing Kids leaders and folks from Amazing Grace Community church participated in the 39th annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Westminster Community Center.

What we were able to do during this secular event was meet people - meet our neighbors, meet children, and most importantly have a presence in our Community here so that when we invite their children and these families to our Summer Sports Camp and to our church they know who we are and they have seen a face.

I had a great time passing out flyers inviting kids to our Olympic Themed Summer Camp coming up in July - "Whose Side are YOU on?", and inviting them to join us for a couple of fun days next week during Spring Break when we will be hiking and crafting. Those are the events where we will have the opportunity to speak more about the Jesus we love and the Jesus that will bring HOPE to the neighborhood.

These secular but fun times that aren't necessarily in the Bible are "Ministry Opportunities" - in disguise! I met Debbie the cashier from our grocery store, who I see at least 3 times a week, who had brought her grand-kids.  We met new people who had just moved to the neighborhood. And we connected with parents and kids who remember the camp from past years and are looking forward to the summer.

We hope you have the opportunity to reach out and meet people through events that, although not necessarily Christian, are all ways to share Jesus through love.

So many little ones learning about this for the first time.

And the big kids who are on a mission!

There was still some snow on the ground from yesterday - but it didn't stop the search!
There were at least 500 people at the event - hot dogs, chips and juice too!
So proud of her little basket!
